We utilized the Scopus database to locate and retrieve scholarly articles focusing on socio-ecological studies across countries in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. We used the SCImago Journal & Country Rank database to compute the number (n) of papers published per year and divided them into categories based on their main subject areas. Following our initial review, we further investigated whether papers featured specific advice concerning natural system management, nature preservation, relevant policies, governmental structures, or general scientific methodologies. In addition, our investigation focused on whether the papers addressed socio-ecological studies pertaining to plant and animal life and from what particular groups or biological systems. Differences in data were examined through a chi-square (χ²) test (Pearson's p < 0.005). Of the 467 papers examined, 34% were published by researchers in the Southern Hemisphere, chiefly Argentina, Australia, Chile, and South Africa, and the remaining 66% originated from the Northern Hemisphere, predominantly the USA, Canada, and Spain. Compared to the Southern Hemisphere, comprising South America and Africa, the Northern Hemisphere, predominantly North America and Europe, held a more substantial role in socio-ecological knowledge exchange.
