Results: The percentage of participants with anxiety (chi 2 = 6.56, p = 0.01) or depression (chi(2) = 7.26,
p = 0.007) was higher in the chemotherapy group. More participants in the chemotherapy group had both anxiety and depression than those in the radiotherapy group, though no statistically significant difference was reported. Conclusion: This study should increase nurses’ awareness of the importance of integrating psychological symptom assessment into nursing assessment procedures, and enhance their clinical sensitivity in identifying high-risk groups of patients undergoing specific cancer treatments. ability to process visual information using relational rules allows for decisions independent of the specific physical attributes of individual stimuli. Until recently, the manipulation GDC-0973 in vivo of relational concepts was considered as a prerogative of large mammalian brains. Here we show that individual free flying honeybees can learn to use size relationship rules to choose either the larger or smaller stimulus as the correct solution in a given context, and subsequently apply the learnt rule to novel colors and shapes providing that there is sufficient input to the long wavelength (green) photoreceptor channel. Our results add a novel, size-based conceptual rule to the set of relational concepts that honeybees have been shown to master and underline the value of bees as an animal model for studying the emergence of conceptualization abilities.”
“BACKGROUND: Peak expiratory flow (PEF) measurement is less expensive and requires fewer skills than spirometry testing. It is thus expected to be a reasonable substitute for spirometry in airflow obstruction screening when spirometry is unavailable.
OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the validation
of PEF measurement in the detection of airflow obstruction using newly established regression equations.
METHODS: The PEFs of 553 ‘normal’ participants aged Ion Channel Ligand Library manufacturer 40-85 years were measured using mechanical devices. Based on these data, regression equations were generated to predict normal PEF values. Data were then collected from 3379 subjects. The specificity and sensitivity of the different predicted PEF cut-off points for detecting airflow obstruction were evaluated by spirometry, based on previously generated regression equations.
RESULTS: Using newly established reference values for PEF, PEF had higher sensitivity and specificity than the questionnaire in detection of airflow obstruction.
